It’s that time of year again. Last week, New York’s Hot 97 announced the line-up for their annual mega-concert Summer Jam. Among the roster of highlights including DJ Khaled, Migos, and headliner Chris Brown, there’s a must-see set advertised as “Faith Evans Presents: 20 Years of B.I.G.”
On Thursday, while at the Tribeca Film Festival for the screening of the documentary Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop: A Bad Boy Story, Faith told REVOLT TV about how the upcoming performance came into play.
“Well, you know, I’ve been promoting the album The King & I, so when [Hot 97] approached me about doing something on Summer Jam, number one, of course I want to do something on Summer Jam,” she said. “And it was in the spirit of honoring Big in my set. And…it is very milestone year for a lot of things related to Big and the album’s coming out….We created a certain [excitement]. I’m not mad at the hype. It’s going to be amazing.”
Faith’s set was conceptualized by Hot 97 morning radio program host Ebro as well as former station staples DJs Mister Cee and Enuff who both played integral parts in Biggie’s career. The trio are still putting the celebration together.
“It’s just a matter of me kind of helping them with artists who worked with Big and who are available,” Evans explained. “I can’t tell you I know how the show is gonna end up. Of course we’re hoping that Mister Man [Diddy] might decide he wants to make an appearance.”
