Big Boi is continuing the legacy of Outkast this June with his third solo album Boomiverse.
The southern rap great premiered his lead single “Mic Jack,” featuring Adam Levine, with Zane Lowe as the Beats 1 World Record on Thursday. The song sees Big Boi weaving through a synthy, dance-ready number by DJ Dahi and DJ Khalil. Big Boi has also released the album’s second single “Kill Jill,” which features guest appearances from fellow Atlanta titans Killer Mike and Jeezy.
Boomiverse is the solo follow-up to Big Boi’s 2012 album Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors, but he also formed a group with Phantogram to release an album called Big Grams in 2015. While his Outkast brethren Andre 3000 is more elusive, Big Boi is continuing to prove himself as one of rap’s most consistent, prolific voices.
