In a sitdown with REVOLT earlier this month, Troy Ave made the current status of his independent fold, BSB Records, absolutely clear. “The current status of BSB is Troy Ave,” he matter-of-factly stated. The decision comes after the Brooklyn rapper endured a traumatic series of events last year, which culminated in him being shot at in two separate occasions.

Now removed from the drama, despite facing attempted murder and weapons possession charges, Troy is embracing a new lease on life. After dropping Dope Boy Troy, his first project for 2017, earlier this month, the “Never Switch” rapper released the controversial sequel to the project last night (April 17), NuPac.

Calling out frenemies (former BSB Records members) on records like “I Ain’t Mad at Cha” and “Truth Be Told,” as well as Joe Budden, Mysonne, and more, Troy once again reiterates a message he left last week: “It’s Dope Boy Troy and I don’t give a f—k.” In addition to shots fired, the rapper also dedicates a full 30-minute portion of the tape to detail the backstage incident that led to last year’s Irving Plaza incident. He doesn’t of course, reveal what led to the shooting, which left his friend Ronald “Banga” McPhatter dead. However, Troy takes the time to explain why he decided to cut ties with his former BSB crew.

As far as his decision, the rapper talked to REVOLT about this new stance, stating that he will not allow his former team to “still eat off of my name.”

“Y’all ain’t repping me. Y’all ain’t repping my name. Y’all ain’t holding it down. Y’all ain’t being loyal. You gotta be loyal to the end. You can’t switch sides,” he shared. “There’s one way. Because I did too much, so niggas owe me that. If you feel like you don’t owe me that, cool. Everything else gon’ be a dub. Everything that come with that is over. Get it on your own.”
