Conspiracy theorists didn’t get their wish for a second album on Easter Sunday, but that didn’t make Kendrick Lamar Sunday night any less epic. His powerful headlining set at Coachella featured Future, Travis Scott and ScHoolboy Q as special guests while presenting powerful imagery and skits, further solidifying K. Dot as one of rap’s top dawgs.

Travis Scott came out on stage to perform “Goosebumps,” he and Kendrick’s collaboration that went platinum toward the end of March. ScHoolboy Q came out to give Kendrick a quick break, performing his hit song “THat Part” sans Kanye West. And perhaps the most surprising guest was Future, who came on stage to “Mask Off” as Kendrick played hype man.

But the cameos were only amplifiers to the star of the show. Kendrick performed DAMN. highlights like “DNA,” “ELEMENT” and “FEEL,” as the album’s melancholy refrain “ain’t nobody praying for me” haunted the set. He also brought out fan favorites like “Alright,” “Don’t Kill My Vibe” and “m.A.A.d city,” while presenting a complex, stunning stage set that included him hanging in midair, and sitting inside the bottom of a cage that became a rising platform. Comical “Kung Fu Kenny” sketches that showed K. Dot as the protagonist in a kung-fu flick lightened the mood. By the time he performed “LOVE.” and “GOD.” in his encore, Kendrick had torn down down the stage for Coachella attendees and online viewers, concluding a weekend where the rap game and pop culture were all about him and his contributions.
