Comedian Charlie Murphy has reportedly passed away following a battle with leukemia. He was 57.

According to TMZ, the actor, comedian, and older brother of Eddie Murphy, died from leukemia Wednesday morning in a NYC hospital. He’d been undergoing chemotherapy treatment to fight the cancer.

Murphy appeared in several television and film roles during the last two decades. He was credited in roles on “Night at the Museum,” “Harlem Nights,” “CB4,” and “Jungle Fever” along with television series like “The Chappelle Show,” wherein he played a key figure. Murphy turned into a household name in Chappelle’s Comedy Central series thanks his classic “True Hollywood Stories” skit, which detailed his interactions with stars like Rick James and Prince.

The news of Murphy’s passing comes after his wife Tisha Taylor passed away in 2009 to cervical cancer. Together, the couple had two kids, a son, 18, and daughter, 11. Murphy also had a son from a previous marriage, who is 31. Reactions to his passing has already flooded social media.
