2017 is already off to an electrifying start as far as hip-hop releases go. Fan favorites such as Migos, Future, Kodak Black and Big Sean have rode a wave of momentum with lauded albums propelling them. Meanwhile, Drake and Rick Ross have stood out from the pack with their LPs More Life and Rather You Than Me respectively.

While Drizzy’s release earned him another one on the Billboard charts and once again proved there are no sound barriers to his musical excellence, Ricky Rozay released his best album in years and delivered provocative barrages of bone-chilling bars throughout his epic opus that had the culture not just talking but quoting.

When it comes to being lyrical, Ross doesn’t stand alone. Kendrick Lamar has literally given fans “Goosebumps” (his relentless verse on the song of that title helped Travis Scott’s single go platinum). When you mention K. Dot, you have to place him amongst the greats of the game. Nuclear powered word play on recent pyrotechnic releases “HUMBLE.” and “The Heart Part 4” has everyone impatiently waiting for his next LP, which he’s hinted to drop on Friday (Apr. 7).

While the music world will stop to gleefully digest Lamar’s next cook up, all of his fans will tell you Kendrick will have the album of the year. Besides the two aforementioned climate changers, we don’t have info on the project—no collaborators, producers, song titles or even a project name. It doesn’t matter. Faith in Kendrick is higher than ever, so we here at REVOLT want to continue the conversation.
