Joey Bada$$ is almost a week away from unleashing his long-awaited follow-up to 2015’s B4.DA.$$, but before then, he has a mini confession to make.
“I lied to you guys,” the Brooklyn rapper revealed in a video posted to Instagram on Wednesday (March 29). What he “lied” about happened to be the cover art for his upcoming album, ALL-AMERIKKAN BADA$$. As the clock winds down for its release next week, Joey decided to let the truth be free by unveiling the “real” album cover. In the vid, Joey uncovers the originally revealed bandana-constructed American flag artwork to reveal the actual cover, which arguably takes the W for best album art of 2017 so far.
Politically-charged, socially-aware, and all-around badass, Joey paints a clear picture for his sophomore album art.
Hanging out the window like 2Pac (a tad bit ironic), the cover finds Joey with two fingers in the air as the American flag waves behind him. Between this artwork and the lyrics to “Land of the Free,” he cleverly adds depth to this line from the aforementioned song: “All eyes be my witness when I speak what’s felt.”
By April 7th, that truth will be set free for store shelves and digital retailers. Soon come.
