Trey Songz and August Alsina rekindle bad blood after "Breakfast Club" interview remarks
Songz’s appearance on the morning show sparks a reaction from Alsina.
Trey Songz says he’s just keeping it a buck, but the singer has been in the middle of hail of controversy the past several months from the New York Giants Miami boating debacle, Keke Palmer accusing him of “intimidating her to appear in his video,” Remy Ma claiming he slept with Nicki Minaj on “ShEther” and of course Nicki lambasting him on social media in the wake of Trey’s Twitter and Instagram response to said song and accusation. Then a few days ago while visiting “The Breakfast Club” in New York, Songz was asked about fighting other celebrities. The singer brought up his past quarrel from 2014 with August Alsina.
“Y’all remember August was talking crazy a couple years ago. I ain’t want to fight. I don’t want to fight. I want to get some money,” the Virginia born superstar declared. “There’s other people that have problems with me that I ain’t even address. I don’t want to fight nobody. That don’t prove nothing. I’m 32-years-old. I got hands. Don’t do prove nothing. People press charges.”
Alsina went to IG, posted a picture of himself with the caption “when niggas mention yo name in a interview bout catching fades but you already offered several fades years ago and will still gladly beat his goofy ass & then be cool later @ treysongz @breakfastclubam #NeverTalkingCrazyAwaysTalkingTruth.
Songz commented on August’s page leaving several laughing crying laughing emojis. Trey also took to his own IG page, posting a picture of Barack Obama laughing.
A few years ago, tension between Songz and Alsina went public shortly after Trey appeared on the remix to Alsina’s “I Luv This Shit” with Chris Brown. During an interview the rapup.com, the New Orleans then new comer was unbridled with his disdain for Songz.
“I don’t really fuck with Trey right now. We don’t get along right now,” Alsina told Rap-Up in 2014. “We ain’t on the same page. He did some other shit. We just don’t rock.” Like I tell people all the time, show me you this person at day one, you should always be that person. Once niggas go to talking a certain type of way, that shit ain’t gonna fly with me.
After a period of silence on the matter, Trey eventually opened up.
“August is like a little brother to me,” Trey told Capital Xtra Radio in the UK in 2014. “You know what I mean? I took him on early in his career. We had a discrepancy and he didn’t know how to deal with that. He hasn’t been in a situation where he has to answer the same question a million times. That’s frustrating so you know, I believe he spoke and said some things he didn’t really mean. Out of pressure. I really care about him. I mean, he got a lot going on in his life, outside of music. And I know that about him.
“I didn’t feel the need to speak out against him; that really don’t do nothing for me. I don’t wanna see nobody do bad.”
