The cancer-stricken teen who made headlines just last week after receiving a FaceTime call from Beyoncé, has died, according to Houston’s KHOU.

Ebony Banks, affectionately called “Ebob,” was battling Stage 4 cancer at MD Anderson Cancer Center last Wednesday when she got a call from the superstar singer. Banks’ friends from Alief Hastings High School had taken to social media and created the hashtag #EbobMeetsBeyonce in an attempt to try and fulfill one of her final wishes.

The effort went viral, catching the attention of Beyoncé herself, and soon the two were meeting face-to-face.

According to a a staff member of Alief Independent School District, Banks passed away on Sunday. A candlelight vigil was held for the teen that evening at LeRoy Crump Stadium.
