The spirit of competition is once again in the air and rap fans are nerding out to lyrics like they used to album liner notes. Yes, altogether, this means one thing: Kendrick Lamar is back.
After stirring up the pot with the Roman numerals “IV” on Instagram and following that up with a pointed warning shot on “The Heart Part 4,” Kendrick has returned and all eyes are on what direction he plans to take next. Besides loading up subliminals for no name rapper, the last seconds of the record is what sent the rap game into overdrive: “Y’all got till April the 7th to get your shit together.”
Could this April date be a possible album release, a single, or announcement from the self-proclaimed God MC? While details are scant, many believe April 7th will produce a new album from K. Dot.
Kendrick Lamar, brings “The Heart” and crown in epic comeback
After all, it was earlier this year when the rapper discussed a “very urgent” new album that he is planning. In an interview with The New York Times, Kendrick said he’d like his next album to a deeper level. “To Pimp a Butterfly was addressing the problem. I’m in a space now where I’m not addressing the problem anymore,” he hinted. “We’re in a time where we exclude one major component out of this whole thing called life: God. Nobody speaks on it because it’s almost in conflict with what’s going on in the world when you talk about politics and government and the system.”
As the stream counts behind “The Heart Part 4” generates playback after playback and anticipation draws for whatever is expect to come out April 7th, check out some of the best reactions to the news of Kendrick possibly dropping his To Pimp A Butterfly follow-up next month.
