In response to Rick Ross’ much-talked about Rather You Than Me album cut “Idols Become Rivals,” Lil Wayne extended his full support.

The new record arrives on the new LP and finds Ross lamenting on his since stained relationship with Birdman and how the Cash Money Records founder disappointed him. Some of the standout lines reference Lil Wayne, whose feud with Birdman goes back a couple years now. “I pray you find the kindness in your heart for Wayne/His entire life, he gave you what there was to gain/I watched this whole debacle so I’m part to blame/Last request, can all producers please get paid,” Rozay raps on the third verse of the record.

Since “Idols Become Rivals” surfaced online on Thursday (March 16), Ross’ biting open letter to Birdman generated plenty of reactions from fans, as well as his good pal Lil Wayne.

In response, Wayne expressed how much the sentiments meant to him, revealing “I needed that.”

The message comes after Chance the Rapper, Kendrick Lamar, and Rozay stood up for Wayne after the New Orleans rapper hinted at a possible retirement last year. Wayne would later deny the news on Skip Bayless’ FS1 program “Undisputed.”
