Chance the Rapper donates $1 million to Chicago Public Schools

Following his generous contribution to the Chicago Public School system this week, Chance the Rapper has announced plans of serving as the Grand Marshall at the annual Bud Billiken Parade and Picnic in Chicago this summer. The event is the oldest and largest African American parade in the United States and is aimed at getting kids ready for school.

“I don’t know if y’all heard yet Chicago, but this year August 12th, your boy Chance the Rapper, I’m the Grand Marshall of this year’s Bud Billiken Parade,” he shared on IG.

As Grand Marshall, Chano will coordinate and “put together” the event, which started back in 1929 as a celebration of Chicago’s underprivileged youth. It begins at 10 a.m. on August 12th. “We finna turn up,” he said in the video.
