The 2017 iHeart Radio Awards took place yesterday evening (March 5) at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif. with The Chainsmokers as the night’s big winners. Not only did they take home a handful of awards including Best New Artist, Best New Pop Artist, and Dance Song of the Year, the ‘Smokers also gave a rousing performance of their new record with Coldplay’s Chris Martin, “Something Just Like This.”

Martin surprised the crowd, coming out from behind the group then jumping into the audience who formed a mosh pit for him. Coldplay also took him Best Tour later in the evening with Martin taking three of Katy Perry’s child dancers up on the stage to accept the award for him. One of the little girls read an acceptance speech from the perspective of a Coldplay member and gushed at how everyone in the collective looked so young other than their frontman Martin.

Perry started the show off with a performance of her single “Chained To The Rhythm.” Wearing all red, Perry sang while walking in a giant hamster wheel and she also had an inflatable hamster on stage with her to go along with the children dressed as mine workers to back her up.

Backstage, Perry told host Ryan Seacrest about her new haircut that everyone has been talking about.

“This is new. I was excited because I’ve always wanted to do a pixie cut,” she said. “I was at the Oscar party and I saw Scarlett Johansen. She had the same cut. I said, ‘That’s one of the most beautiful women in the world. I can do that too and look maybe half as good. So I went there.”

Justin Timberlake won Song of the Year for “Can’t Stop The Feeling.” The legendary superstar had some sage advice during his acceptance speech.

“I wanna take this opportunity to speak to young people right now. If you are black or you are brown or you are gay or you are lesbian or you are trans, or maybe you’re just a sissy singing boy from Tennessee, anyone that is treating you unkindly is either because they are afraid or they’ve been taught to be afraid of how important you are. Because being different means you make the difference.”

Other big winners of the night were Rihanna who won R&B Song of the Year for “Work” and R&B Album of the Year for Anti. Bryson Tiller won Best New R&B Artist while Chance The Rapper was dubbed Best New Hip-Hop Artist. Fifth Harmony and their loyal legion of “Harmonizers” were awarded Best Fan Army while Bruno Mars was given the coveted Innovator Award.

Mars, dressed in all black, celebrated with a medley performance of “Treasure” and his new jam “That’s What I Like.” Other performers included Big Sean, Noah Cyrus and Ed Sheeran.
