It’s been just over five years since Rick Ross released his unanimously heralded mixtape masterpiece Rich Forever, which some proclaim as his best project ever. However, the Boss says his new project Rather You Than Me eclipses his past works, especially with the musical soundscapes.

“I was making music so fast, Rich Forever was going to be an album, but Def Jam wasn’t ready to pull the trigger,” Ross said recently backstage at Philadelphia’s Meek Mill and Friends concert. “So I released it by myself. I think I did four million in touring the first two months it was out. So, staying in control is always important to me. But Rather You Than Me, this album, sonically, this may be the magnum opus.”

Rather You Than Me comes out on March 17 and so far, Ross has released “I Think She Like Me” with Ty Dolla $ign and “Buy Back The Block” featuring Gucci Mane and 2 Chainz. There’s also “The Refinance” remix replete with verses from Nipsey Hussle, Fat Joe, Slim Thug and E-40. Additionally, Bink has supplied tracks and Nas has been confirmed as a guest MC.

“The names that excite me, Nas excites Rozay,” Ross told radio host Angie Martinez a couple of weeks back on her radio show. The Boss also said he was honored that Nas named him as one of his top five current MCs in a recent REVOLT TV interview between the Queensbridge rapper and Andre Harrell.

“To hear him talk about me being one of his top five lyricists a few weeks back, that even meant more,” Ross described. “It brought me back to a conversation we had. He brought up a line where I said on the Deeper Than Rap album, I was talking about when the South got on top, where the love at? Because we embraced everybody else. For that to be the first line he brought up to me, he let me know he’s on top of his game and he’s really listening. Nas is most definitely on the album.”
