Rick Ross says his new LP Rather You Than Me is, sonically, his magnum opus. He’s confirmed collaborations with Nas and Bink. Of course we’ve already heard records with Gucci Mane, 2 Chainz and Ty Dolla $ign. The LP comes out on March 17 and is his first project stemming from his new partnership with the L.A. Reid-run Epic records after a decade on Def Jam. It’s full circle since Reid gave him his recording contract 10 years ago.

“The beautiful thing about L.A. is when I came in the building, back when him and Jay Z signed me in 06, [I told them], ‘Just let me do what I do. Give me the money and I’ll be back with the album. Let me put together what I’m going to put together,’” the man dubbed “Yung Renzel” recently told REVOLT TV.

“Every time he did that, I always broke bread. I’m always free to do whatever I want to do. I said, ‘I’m ready to come to the table.’ [L.A.’s] eager, he’s hearing the excitement. I sat down with Jay a week and half ago, I played the music for the big homie. What was different this time, instead of asking what he felt after the album was out, I asked him how he felt before I wrapped it up. I’m glad I did. The energy the homie gave me, ummmph.”

Considering “You Know I Got It,” “3 Kings,” “Free Mason,” “The Devil Is a Lie,” and of course “Maybach Music,” Ross and Hov have quite the winning streak when they collaborate. The tandem has never disappointed and the two got to build extensively in the lab while Ross was making Rather You Than Me.

“Jay just one of them big homies you just would rather let it speak for itself,” Rozay said. “I wanted to most definitely give the pictures to the people to let them know where we at sonically. Once you bring the big homie to the table and it’s that type of situation, that type of feeling, that type of vibe… I think that’s the longest we ever sat in the studio together. The record spark conversations, ‘Yo, that’s what I think.’ It’s most definitely gonna be felt.”
