Last year saw Metro Boomin nab production credits on, among other hits, Kanye West’s “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1,” Future’s “Low Life” and “Wicked,” Migos’ “Bad and Boujee,” and Big Sean’s “Bounce Back.” Likely aware that it’d be career suicide to slow down now, the 23-year-old has just revealed he’s launching his own label.

In an interview with GQ, the young producer/songwriter/DJ was asked about Gucci Mane, “one of music’s biggest tastemakers,” and if he saw himself taking on a similar role.

Listing other inspirations, Metro said:

“That’s always been something I want to do. I’m heavily influenced by a lot of people like Dre, Pharrell , and Kanye. They’re all big time tastemakers and trendsetters, just for culture, period. So I strive to do that as well. I’m starting my label up, so of course I’m going to keep bringing new things to the table: new artists, new sounds, and new vibes for people to love and live with.”

The triple-threat also revealed he is working on his debut album, saying, “That’s the main focus.”
