UPDATE: Despite speculation, Kanye West did not debut new music during his Yeezy Season 5 presentation. Instead, the show played a The-Dream’s version of “Bed” on repeat.
Like he always does at this time, Kanye West could be debuting more than just a new collection at the debut presentation of Yeezy Season 5.
As he is set to present his latest collection at New York Fashion Week today (February 15), Kanye has already gotten the people talking. Already, the buzz has been built thanks to the fashionable invites sent out for the anticipated event and now word is going around that new music will accompany the show.
“Lost Hills,” which is emblazoned on the Yeezy Season invites, is producing talk of being a possible collaboration with Drake. Images surfaced online showing the supposed promo merch from the show, including one uploaded by GQ style writer Jake Woolf, who followed up his tweet with a promotional picture that could be billed as a collab featuring both Kanye West and Drake.
The journey to Drake and Kanye West’s mysterious joint album
The news comes after Ye confirmed to Vogue last year that a collaborative album with Drake was on the way. “We’re just working on music, working on a bunch of music together, just having fun going into the studio,” he revealed. “We’re working on an album, so there’s some exciting things coming up soon.” About a month later, Drake himself teased the collaboration via an Instagram post that was a photo of the two stars standing alongside each other. “The goes the neighborhood,” he wrote as the caption for the post.
In related news, Pusha T recently did an interview and revealed that West was working on a brand new album. Though he didn’t unveil more details, the comment confirmed that Yeezy Season is more than just a new collection of gear.
Yeezy Season 5 takes place today in New York at 3 p.m. EST.
