Chance The Rapper had more wins last night at the Grammy Awards in LA. He took home three out of the seven awards he was nominated for, Best Rap Album, Best Rap Performance and Best New Artist and made more history. He was the first artist nominated for a stream only project, with his Coloring Book and he was the first artist to win for stream only project with said lauded opus.

Last night, Chance shared a salutation sent to him via text by a guy who won multiple Grammy Awards last night as well, Drake.

“CONGRATS BOI!!!!!!,” the screenshot of a text message marked Drake at 4:02 PM yesterday read. “WELL DESERVED. I AM IN MANCHESTER HAVING A DRINK FOR YOU BROSKI. MORE MORE MORE.”

The screenshot also showed Chance’s response which had not yet been sent. It read “Love you bro! I’m hearing amazing things about tour 100.”

For the people across the globe who were not familiar with Chance, last night was definitely his coming out party. His acceptance speeches were very humble, but poignant and he thanked friends and family, independent artists, shouted out DJ Drama and praised the Lord.

“Glory be to God. I claim this victory in the name of the Lord,” Chance testified after his win for Best New Artist. “I want to thank God for my mother and my father, who supported me since I was young, for Kirsten, for Kensli, for all of Chicago, and I want to thank God for putting amazing people in my life.”

Chance capped his night with a sanctified performance of “How Great” and “All We Got” backed by a Gospel choir, Kirk Franklin, Tamela Mann, and Nicole Steen.
