DJ Khaled, you had us at the cover art work. Just minutes ago, the charismatic mogul released the first single from his upcoming Grateful LP. Featuring his son Asahd on the cover wearing a black tuxedo and bow tie, the song features the biggest powerful couple in the world, Jay Z and Beyonce.
“I worked my whole life for this one,” Khaled says at the beginning of the record co-produced with Danja Handz.
“Shinin’, shinin’, shinin’, yeah,” Beyonce starts off singing. “All of this winnin’, I’ve been losing my mind.”
“Hold on, don’t try to put me down,” Queen Bey continues. “Hold on, don’t try to slow me down / And I’m gonna make them act a fool for ya / You gonna need a address when I lose the boy / Money don’t make me happy / And a fella can’t make me fancy / I’m smiling for a whole ‘nother reason.”
Jay later enters the track, talking big money and his unborn two children.
“Ran to the dealer bought twin Mercedes, the European trucks for the twin babies,” he raps. “Don’t let me have a son, I’m a foooool / Send him to school in my jewels / I want a boy and girl to fight for truth / Whatever God gave me, I’m cool / I been winning so long it’s like alchemy / I’ve been playing cards with the house money / 21 Grammys, I’m a savage nigga / 12 solo albums, all platinum, nigga.”
There is no release date for Grateful as of yet, but on Friday, Khaled explained to REVOLT the meaning of the album title after a press conference announcing the opus.
“The idea of the album basically, is exactly what the title is,” Khaled explained. “I’m very grateful, I’m forever grateful. I take nothing for granted. When I’m making this music, with some of these superstar icons in the studio with me, I‘m grateful for them. I’m grateful for my son, I’m grateful for my fans. I’m grateful for all the DJs, radio stations. I’m grateful for Revolt for broadcasting this love. Because that’s what we have to do is broadcast love. The title is exactly what it is. I’m grateful. Forever grateful.”
