Back in January, the Wu-Tang Clan’s resident chef announced that he was preparing to drop his seventh solo album, The Wild, with a release date set for March 24. To hold fans over for another month, the Shaolin emcee has offered a new single to his fans, “This Is What It Comes Too.”
Heavily sampling Melvin Bliss’ “Synthetic Substitution,” Rae butterfly kicks some explosive and refreshing new rhymes into your ears with maximum precision. “I done blacked out, no man is safe, your crew is cornered/ Why did you think you can step over me I’m too enormous,” he begins, revisiting some of that good ol’ Only Built 4 Cuban Linx energy. Never one to sleep on, Rae seems to be hungry for supreme rap domination in 2017 and the new track is a sure sign of great things to come.
