For over 10 years, Zaytoven has maintained a coveted position as mastermind and godfather to Atlanta’s sound. Creating melodic bounces for the likes of Gucci Mane, Usher, Future, Drake, and Migos over the years has made Zay’s twinkling keys such a hot commodity. and its long-running demand has made it a staple in hip-hop just as the likes of Q-Tip and Dr. Dre, The Neptunes and DJ Premier to name a few. Most recently, Zay’s puffed 808 sonics earned the ear of Jay Z, who called the producer to his home.

Streets is Watching: All signs pointing to a new Jay Z album

“I feel like I have a demographic of people that listen to my music or people that even care about the music I do. Whether I’m working with Future, Drake or Gucci [Mane], I feel like there’s a certain type of people that like my music. I wouldn’t think Jay Z was one of them,” Zay recalled to REVOLT. “So when I got the call that, ‘Jay Z wants to work with you, he wants you to come over to the house,’ I’m like, for real? I didn’t even know he even knew who I was or paid attention to my music.”

Zaytoven teased the collaboration in an Instagram post with the caption, “Jaytoven.”

According to the producer, Jay knew exactly what beat he wanted. “When I talked to him, he gave me specific type of beats he wants from me. He was like, ‘I need them pianos and strings.’ So that means you’ve been paying attention. So that alone, it gave me another confidence level and lets me know that people like that are listening to my music.”

The update comes as speculation continues to surround Jay and a possible album. Last year, Jigga released a string of guest verses (“I Got the Keys,” “Drug Dealers Anonymous”), his first full record in three years (“Spiritual”), and celebrated 20 years of his debut album Reasonable Doubt.

No word on where this collaboration will land, but Jaytoven is real and should arrive sooner than later.
