Migos to perform at Super Bowl 51? It’s a beautiful headline, but also a long shot considering that the big NFL game is a week away and Lady Gaga has already been selected to perform. Still, that hasn’t stopped one Migo-fanatic from issuing a petition to have the ATLiens replace Gaga for the halftime show.
Arriving just as Migos’ latest album, C U L T U R E, skyrockets to No. 1 on the iTunes Top Albums chart, the petition, created by a man named Justin Good, currently has 14,560 signatures out of its 15,000 max.
“Very simple, the Atlanta Falcons are in the Super Bowl and it’s gonna be in Houston,” Godd wrote. “Two of the TRILLEST hip hop communities under ONE ROOF. Your entertainment choices have to change RIGHT NOW.”
Good didn’t stop there. In a perfect world, the petition would have Rae Sremmurd, Gucci Mane, Goodie Mob, Ludacris and Jeezy perform the pre-show; Young Thug deliver “the official anthem of Atlanta” otherwise known as “Guwop Home”; André 3000 and Erykah Badu singing the national anthem.
With the Super Bowl a week away, the idea is mere wishful thinking. However, the thought behind it is notable in that its a prime example of Migos’ endearing influence. Since the album dropped last night, C U L T U R E has topped the album chart and spawned rave reviews from fans. Guess Donald Glover had it right when he hailed them this generation’s version of The Beatles.
Migos’ C U L T U R E is available now.
