The hip-hop community is still in shock over the sudden death of the founder of one of its most powerful entities, WorldStarHipHop.com. Lee O’Denat, better known simply as “Q,” passed away in his San Diego home last night of an apparent heart attack.
Fans, entertainers, and journalists have all been posting on Instagram about Q since news of the 43-year-old’s death surfaced this afternoon.
Media legend Sway remembered Q for revolutionizing “the digital space of rap” and helping “open the door for so many artists.”
Swizz Beatz sent blessings to a man he called a “king.”
DJ Khaled recalled the young entrepreneur as being an always-supportive “inspiration.”
Juelz Santana made sure to call out Q’s long-lasting legacy.
Lady Luck remembered Q as authentic, kind and giving.
This evening, WorldStarHipHop released a statement as a company on its own page:
“With profound sadness, WorldStarHipHop and its employees, state that Lee ODenat, known as “Q”, the founder, leader and genius behind the website and brand has passed in San Diego. Q was a brilliant businessman who championed urban culture, ultimately creating the largest hiphop website in the world. But more than that, he was a devoted father and one of the nicest, most generous persons to ever grace this planet. We will miss his hearty laugh and warm spirit. WorldStarHipHop will continue in its various endeavors. We ask that you remember Q in your prayers and raise a toast to the sky in his name.”
