REVOLT has learned that Lee “Q” O’Denat, founder of WorldStarHipHop, died last night (January 23) at home in his sleep. According to a source close to Q, he suffered a heart attack. The successful media entrepreneur was only 43.
O’Denat had survived two prior heart attacks in his 30s while on his way to making WorldStar a staple of the hip-hop culture that transcended into pop culture. That website’s banner has become a coveted debut destination for videos from independent artists and well-known superstars including DJ Khaled, Rick Ross, Busta Rhymes, and O.T. Genasis. The website also gained popularity for its aggregation of hip-hop media and, yup, showing real people having real street fights.
Among the deals he was working on before his passing was a cable television show and a Hollywood motion picture.
