Bronx-bred multi-media star Cardi B thanks the Man above that her Gangsta Bitch Music, Vol. 2 (or GBMV2) dropped today, the same day of Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration.
“It was definitely not strategic,” the 24-year-old said when visiting REVOLT TV. “It was supposed to come out last Friday. We pushed it back. There were things that me and my management didn’t agree on so we dropped it today.”
Call it divine intervention.
“It was just Jesus. Jesus knows that America was sad,” she said, smiling. “We sad because Donald Trump about to be President. But [Jesus] wanted to bring some happiness to America and that’s why it dropped today.”
Cardi divulged she wants to be optimistic about Trump’s four-year term, but his actions and words have made it difficult to be encouraged.
“It’s a little scary,” the star said. “Sometimes I feel like, you know what? Let me give the President the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he will do good. Maybe he’s just doing this for a show, to get people’s attention—he’s an attention whore—so I’m just going to give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he does have good things coming. But then, when I’m thinking that way and trying to keep it positive, he says the dumbest things.”
“Why you wanna waste so much money building a wall?,” she added, lamenting Trump’s campaign promise to build a barrier of nearly 2,000 miles on the border of the United States and Mexico. Supporters at some of his campaign rallies even chanted, “Build the wall! Build the wall!”
“Why don’t you build an extra school?” Cardi continued, giving her opinion on where the funds to erect the Southern barrier should go. “Or extra hospitals in the hood. Or give that money to Flint? There’s so many things that need to be fixed. Why are you worrying about a wall that’s gonna cost so much money? The Mexicans are not going to lay that wall. We’re going to have to pay for it with our money. Our tax money. It’s kinda ridiculous to me. It’s a little bit scary. I try to keep it positive. Maybe he feels like so many people are saying he’s going to be a bad President, maybe he feels like ‘I’ma show them I’m going to be a good President. Watch.’ Then he’ll say the stupidest things. You’re talking personal things on Twitter. Your tying to beef with China. Why you trying to beef with China?”
Just last month, Trump criticized China via Twitter: “Did China ask us if it was OK to devalue their currency (making it hard for our companies to compete), heavily tax our products going into their country (the U.S. Doesn’t tax them) or to build a massive military complex in the middle of the South China Sea? I don’t think so.”
This afternoon in Washington, D.C., 95 people were arrested during protests of Trump’s Inauguration, according to reports. Some demonstrators are said to have thrown rocks and bottles at police.
