Anytime Kanye West drops an album, it’s an event. And things were no different with his last effort, The Life of Pablo. From its ever-changing title and live premiere at Madison Square Garden to ‘Ye’s insistence on continuing to edit its tracks after its release and then cancelling the tour that he launched in support of it, TLOP stayed on our tongues in some way, shape, or form for nearly all of 2016.
However, that’s not to say that it’s his best work. Granted, “best” is subjective, and that’s what keeps folks active in attempting to rank his albums. Hell, even we tried.
But if there’s anyone that knows ‘Ye’s music well, it’s his fellow Chicagoan, collaborator, and protege Chance the Rapper, who helped write five of TLOP‘s tracks and delivered a verse on its opening cut “Ultralight Beam.” Still, despite his own contributions, Young Chano’s not naming TLOP as his favorite effort from ‘Ye.
The rapper took to Instagram to denounce a ranked list from Complex. Shaming them, he edited it to his own liking. Here’s how Chano has prioritized his mentor’s albums.
1) Late Registration
2) The College Dropout
3) My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
4) Graduation
5) Watch the Throne
6) The Life of Pablo
7) Yeezus
8) 808s & Heartbreak
Is this the final say?
