Earlier this week, Soulja Boy blessed the internet with yet another noteworthy headline, only this time he left beef off the menu.

After a tumultuous two months of an e-crime spree that consisted of messy social media-stemmed “beef” with the likes of Lil Yachty, Rico Recklezz, Shia Labeouf, Quavo and his Hollywood Hills neighbors,, the controversial Atlanta rapper returned to the spotlight this for another interview recounting his infamous run-in with a burglar at his home in 2008. Now, he has opened up about this story a few of times already, including in an interview with Big Boy in 2009, in which he admitted “One dude ran in put the AK to my homeboy head, put him on the floor,” and then on Twitter in 2010, noting how the incident changed him forever. “When them niggaz ran in my crib. I knew I was dead. Think about it. I had to really shoot a nigga,” he wrote. “That shit changed me forever. I’m sorry.” But as many times as this story has been told, retold, and depicted in film, no one was prepared for the updated version that Soulja recounted in an interview with DJ Vlad.

Getting into more details about the pressure-racing moment, the “Crank Dat” rapper explained the ordeal in much greater detail in the new interview, including just how he managed to shoot the home invader. Despite the dark nature of the tale, the recollection became yet another viral sensation thanks to Soulja’s Robert Ludlum-meets-The Wayne Bros.-styled detailed report. “One nigga run to the front door. I hop out, I start shooting, shot the nigga,” he described. “Shot his ass. All the niggas run out the door. This nigga on the floor. [I] walk up to this nigga, take his mask off his head. Looked at, saw who it was. I’m like, ‘Damn.’ Shot his ass again.” It’s a wild story that even got a response from one of the alleged perpetrators. But, despite the serious nature of the tale, that didn’t stop social media from cranking out its own version via the now viral campaign: #SouljaBoyChallenge.
