As sometimes happens when multiple big-name performers have to share the stage, some sets can run long and timing can get out of sorts. But singer-songwriter Trey Songz allegedly was not having it. The Detroit News reports Songz was arrested Wednesday night while performing at the Big Show at the Joe after getting angry when he was told his time was up.

According to reports, at about 11:30 p.m., Songz was told to leave the stage. In video footage, he says, “They say they gon cut my mic off ’cause I’m taking too much time. I want you to know Detroit, from the left to the right, from the front to the back, that if that happens, I love you no matter what.” He tells the fans that if his mic is cut off, they can alert social media “because I’m going the f-ck crazy.” As the audience screams, he then proceeds to sing taunts: “Gon do it. Gon do it. Cut me off.”

Officer Dan Donakowski, a Detroit Police Department spokesman, said Songz became “upset and belligerent,” throwing microphones and speakers. When officers came onstage to try to calm him, Songz kept throwing equipment, allegedly striking an officer in the head, requiring him to be rushed to a hospital for treatment.

The singer was arraigned on Thursday and charged with one count of assaulting a police officer causing injury, and one count of aggravated assault. The Detroit News reports he is due back in court for a probable cause conference on Jan. 5 at 8:30 a.m. and a preliminary examination on Jan. 11 at 9 a.m.

The Big Show at The Joe is an annual concert event in Detroit’s Joe Louis Arena sponsored by local stations FM 98 WJLB and Channel 955, iHeartRadio sister stations. Similar to New York’s Summer Jam, it’s packed with stars, and this year’s lineup included Chris Brown, Desiigner, Lil Yachty, Young M.A., Icewear Vezzo, Neisha Neshae, Zay Hilfiger, and Zayion McCall.
