The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s roster of artists will grow once more in 2017 as the likes of Journey, Pearl Jam, Joan Baez, Electric Light Orchestra, Yes, and Tupac Shakur have been confirmed for induction.

In addition to the list of nominees, Nile Rodgers will receive the Musical Excellence Award after appearing on the ballot (alongside his band Chic) eleven times prior. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Rodgers expressed his thoughts on the honorary award saying, “I’m quite flattered that they believed that I was worthy, but my band Chic didn’t win. They plucked me out of the band and said, ‘You’re better than Chic.’ That’s wacky to me … I am flattered and I think it’s cool, but I feel like somebody put me in the lifeboat and told my family they can’t get in.”

The Hall’s 32nd annual ceremony will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on April 7 and will be televised later in the year on HBO.

As eligibility for the Hall of Fame requires an artist’s first album to have met its twenty-fifth anniversary mark, Shakur and Pearl Jam are the first inductees to have begun their careers in the 90s. Their respective albums, 2Pacalypse Now and Ten were both released in 1991.

Shakur’s induction arrives just two months before what would have been his 46th birthday and the release of his highly anticipated biopic, All Eyez On Me, which borrows its title from his 1996 album of the same name.
