The first American artist Yo Trane heard was Kanye West. Like most of us, he fell in love with College Dropout, but there was one problem: He didn’t understand English. Born and raised in France, Yo Trane loved rap so much that he began to teach himself the language of his favorite American artists. But eventually, he discovered that he was a much better singer than rapper. He went on to record his first EP, Late Night Drive, in his bedroom. But now, he’s coming overseas.
REVOLT brings you Yo Trane’s first American interview, an exclusive chat about his background, his sound, and more. The “High Off You” singer explains his trap-influenced R&B, the difference in cultures, and the reason he is making his way abroad. Get to know the French import before he takes off.
