J. Cole, “False Prophets”

J. Cole got mouths dropping and tongues wagging when he dropped “False Prophets” last week. Not only did the track come within an unannounced 40-minute documentary that serves as an appetizer to his upcoming album 4 Your Eyez Only, but many listeners assumed the no-names-mentioned verses were directed at his fellow lyricists Kanye West and Wale. It turns out the track won’t appear on the album, but he’s released the standalone video to the masses and in the clip, that’s both saturated and muted in color, he rides the city streets on a bus before stopping at convenience stores, clothing shops, and to engage with fans and residents

Jaden Smith, “Fallen”

Set in “Calabasas 1867” while wearing Marty McFly’s Nike Air Mags, Smith struggles to fight a sickness—limping, stumbling, fainting, and throwing up in a deserted Western-style town and on empty mountain lookouts as Kid Cudi’s debut album Man on the Moon: The End of Day plays on a record player. (Cudi‘s actually the one who announced the visual’s premiere.) And at the end, an upcoming project titled Syre is teased.

Kodak Black, “There He Go”

After being sentenced to four months in a Florida jail, transferred to a South Carolina jail to face separate charges, and then being released after posting a $100,000 bond, Kodak returns to his holiday-ready home to flex in the freshest jewelry, sneakers, and shades while (of course) counting money.
