Good things come to an end. And while that saying can apply to much of the current state of affairs in this country, it can also be applied to plenty of moments within pop culture and music history. In hip-hop, the list goes on and on, but as far as beautiful moments that get turned into bittersweet memories, The Diplomats are synonymous to that fact. For the last six years, the Harlem unit comprised of Cam’ron, Juelz Santana, Jim Jones, and Freekey Zekey sold fans on dreams of a proper reunion. In 2010, after years of rumored tension within the group, they released their first comeback single “Salute.” Then, after promising a threequel to Diplomatic Immunity, the album plans — and the group — disappeared.

Fast forward to 2015, Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex managed to do the impossible and got the crew to reunite one more time. Plans were in place for a tour and two projects — an album and mixtape. From there, they freestyled, released two singles (“Do Something,” “Have My Money”) and then disbanded out of nowhere. In recent months, Cam’ron and Jim Jones have been engaging in a back-and-forth over social media. The most recent occurred in the comment section of Dave East’s Instagram back in October after the latter made a post about Cam passing him the torch for Harlem. Jones left a sly remark in response, typing: “Lol th torch lol tell him make u dip set lol.”

All of this inner turmoil, including the aforementioned missteps in the journey to a reunion album, became a sure sign of the unfortunate: Dipset is no more.

If that wasn’t clear enough, Cam’ron stopped by The Angie Martinez Show on Power 105.1 this week and confirmed it for all to hear. After speaking on a number of topics, including his recent “Fleebok 2” collaboration with Reebok, the Harlemite was asked about his stance with Jim Jones. Killa responded, “I don’t really mess with Jim anymore to be totally honest.” Cam also went on to explain the origin of their gripe and attributes it to Jim going to social media many times to air out their dirty laundry. One incident in particular came after Cam posted this clip onto Instagram earlier this year:

According to Cam, he didn’t like the fact that Jim hopped on IG to send out the comment seen above. Additionally, Killa also put rumors of a third Dipset album to rest. Likening his team to The Cosby Show, he said “Theo don’t hang with Rudy no more… the show’s over.” While he is still cool with Juelz and Zeke, there is currently no plans in place for another Dipset reunion or project.
