Wednesday (November 30) in a Los Angeles court Young Money artist and former REVOLT TV correspondent Lil Twist was sentenced to a year in jail for assault and theft charges. He starts serving his time on February 3, 2017.

“I’m out chea…We got some time before clock in! Prayers up doe,” Twist tweeted Wednesday afternoon. In the wake of sentencing he also took to social media saying, “Just left court. TMZ about to break the news I’m sho. It’s over but not really., God got me!!”

Twist’s lockdown stint stems from a November 14 confrontation between him and actor Chris Massey at the residence of Massey’s brother Kyle. According to the LA District Attorney’s office, during a party at the apartment, Chris, the former Nickelodeon star, asked Twist to leave. The 23-year-old rapper is said to have slapped Massey before exiting and returned 30 minutes later with four other men. Twist and his guys are accused of jumping Massey and taking some of his property.

In court, Twist, born Christopher Lynn Moore, pleaded no contest to one count each of first-degree residential burglary; assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury; assault with a deadly weapon, brass knuckles; grand theft; and first-degree robbery. Twist was facing up to nine years behind bars. In addition to the one year he’ll actually serve, he also has three years of formal probation. When he turns himself in on February 3, he’ll have a restitution hearing where the amount he has to pay will be determined.
