Back in January the rapper, best known as Mos Def, was arrested and charged for using false documents, notably a World Passport, when attempting to leave South Africa, where he has been living in Cape Town since 2013.

After ten months it has been reported that the Brooklyn native is being granted access to leave the country now that he has “unreservedly apologized to the government of South Africa,” which they have accepted and are “satisfied with.”

Yasiin Bey Arrested In South Africa For Fraudulent Passport

While the government will drop the charges against Bey, he will be declared an undesirable person and will not be allowed re-entry.

Bey spoke on his legal troubles earlier this year with “A Message from Yasiin Bey,” that was made available on Kanye West’s website where he revealed he was “being prevented from leaving, unjustly, unlawfully, and without any logical reason.” In the P.S.A., he also announced his retirement from the music industry, as well as Hollywood, and will release his final album by year’s end.

He has since been releasing music with Chicago-based producer Ferrari Sheppard under the name of Dec 99th.
