Kanye West’s reported breakdown on Monday (November 21) sent paramedics jostling after a disturbance call was placed just one day after the rapper abruptly cancelled the remaining dates of his tour. West was hospitalized and is under observation at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. TMZ has obtained audio of the fire department dispatch calls and revealed new details surrounding the situation.

Kanye West hospitalized for “his own health and safety”

The audio, which can be heard below, finds a dispatcher characterizing the situation as a “psychiatric emergency.” According to TMZ, the person who put in a call to 911 was West’s personal physician, who warned them that Kanye was not violent but would become so if police arrived to help him.

As reported, paramedics showed up around 1:20 p.m. at the home of West’s trainer after a 911 call was placed claiming the rapper was acting “erratically.”

Law enforcement reportedly stated that the call came in as a male with mental illness. West’s physician, Dr. Michael Farzam, said his patient’s name was “Jim Jones, 39 years old, 5’8″, 175 lbs … suffers from temporary psychosis due to sleep deprivation and dehydration.” Per a police report obtained by the outlet, the doctor said he had Kanye placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold and wanted him taken to UCLA Medical Center after he allegedly attempted to attack a staff member at the gym.

It is also being said that the G.O.O.D. Music leader was handcuffed to a stretcher — a measure that is protocol for 5150 patients — and taken to UCLA Medical Center for psychiatric evaluation.

As the news continues to produce updates, several musicians have sent out positive messages for West.

During a performance of “All We Got” on BBC Radio 1, Chance the Rapper took a minute to send some positive light to his Good Ass Job co-star. “I want to extend a special prayer to my big brother Kanye West. I know there’s a lot of weird folks out there but you already know that I’m a hundred grand,” he said. “I want to just extend this prayer and this love from all the way in Britain. We might come home early to see this. Happy Thanksgiving.”

Fellow G.O.O.D. Music star John Legend also shared the same sentiments, revealing to CBS This Morning that he and his wife Chrissy Teigen were with Kim Kardashian before the incident. “We were with Kim actually, you know, right before all of that,” Legend said. “I was concerned by what I saw, so hopefully he’s getting some rest and some time to figure things out.”

As the story continues to unravel, we can’t help but go back to this quote Dave Chappelle once gave on the topic of Hollywood and the ongoing celebrity “breakdown.”
