Birdman calls off settlement negotiations with Lil Wayne
He reportedly nixed the agreement after Lil Wayne gave Jay Z a shout-out.
There’s been yet another update in the seemingly never-ending feud and ongoing legal battle between former besties and business partners Birdman and Lil Wayne.
According to TMZ, Birdman has called off all negotiations for a settlement with his estranged labelmate.
In case you missed it, Lil Wayne is suing Bird for $51 million citing an array of alleged financial mishandling (including failure to pay owed advance money and royalties stemmed from a 2012 deal) and the delay of his long-awaited album Tha Carter V.
But, despite reportedly being one meeting away from finalizing an agreement, insiders say Birdman nixed the negotiation after Lil Wayne’s performance at this month’s Camp Flog Gnaw music festival, during which he pledged his allegiance to Jay Z’s camp by changing the lyrics to “I’m Me” from “I’m a motherfuckin’ Cash Money millionaire” to “I’m a motherfuckin’ R-O-C millionaire / I’m a motherfuckin’ Roc-A-Fella millionaire.”
TMZ is reporting that the parties would need to keep it civil in public in order for the lawsuit to settle.
