Despite 2016 being such a significant milestone for the life of Tupac Shakur — between the 20th anniversary of All Eyez on Me and his passing and being a nominee for the 2017 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame— a biopic centered on the life of the iconic rapper will not hit box offices this year. However, according to an announcement by the film’s producer L.T. Hutton, a scheduled date has been set for June 16, 2017 — Shakur’s birthday.
Barring any further delays, the long-awaited “All Eyez On Me” biopic is expected to hit theaters next summer on ‘Pac’s birthday, June 16.
If Tupac Were Alive…
The hugely anticipated film will star Demetrius Shipp, Jr. as the tatted MC, while the rest of the All Eyez on Me cast includes Danai Gurira as Afeni Shakur, Dominic L. Santana as Suge Knight, Annie Ilonzeh as Kidada Jones and Jamal Woolard as the Notorious B.I.G.
A trailer for the film was released on September 13th, in light of the 20th anniversary of Shakur’s passing.
