Pastor Shirley Caeser, the OG of gospel, is here for the “#UNameItChallenge”

  /  11.17.2016

After the #MannequinChallenge, we were READY for a new viral video and the internet never lets us down. We’ve all seen it and probably dabbed to it: “I got greens, beans, potatoes, tomatoes, lamb, ham, chicken — YOU NAME IT!” Well, the originator of the song, pastor Shirley Caesar, called into The Willie Moore Jr. Show to give her seal of approval.

“I was out in the middle of the ocean, and one of the members from my church showed it to me,” she said. “I was so shocked to see them dancing and boogieing” after all these years.

The Queen of Gospel music went on to explain that the viral clip is from the end of her song “Hold My Mule.” She then broke into a live version of that portion. Caeser said God has been so good to her, allowing millions of people around the world to interact with the song in such a major way.

What’s your favorite rendition of the song? Drop your comments and listen to the interview below.
