The Minnesota cop who fatally shot Philando Castile during a traffic stop on July 6 has been charged with second-degree manslaughter, reports CNN.

Ramsey County Attorney John Choi announced early Wednesday (November 16) that police officer Jeronimo Yanez has also been charged with two felony counts of dangerous discharge of a firearm.

Castile’s shooting hit the news circuit and spread quickly after his fiancee live-streamed the aftermath of the fatal incident. His death came just a day after that of Alton Sterling at the hands of Baton Rouge police and contributed to spawning national protests, reactions, PSAs, and other acts of activism.
