We recently sat down with Justine Skye for a very intimate conversation about new music she has on the horizon. Through our process of discovery, we shared a conversation about some great life lessons that she has learned under the Roc Nation umbrella as she comes into her own in her career.

Justine currently has a single out with Wizkid titled “U Don’ Know,” which was written by Kevin Garrett who pinned “Pray You Catch Me” for Beyoncé. Skye and Wizkid found the perfect song to connect on. When we asked Justine how she felt about the collaboration she said, “I think it’s so dope. He’s a huge international star and I’m so happy I got him on my single.”

Justine also put a hit together for the streets with a single on the way called “Gangsta,” which features YG and Ty Dolla $ign. The track produced by Vic Mensa is something to ride to with the West Coast sound that Dolla $ign and YG are known for. You can take a listen to a snippet of the song in our interview coming up.

“The Purple Unicorn” also dropped some gems that she picked up working with the Roc Nation team and being around Jay Z. She shares valuable lesson about keeping your composure when people take shots at you. Justine talks about the importance of of not clapping back: “Never argue with a fool because onlookers may not be able to tell the difference…You gotta be the bigger person especially when you’re an artist and you’re in the limelight.” This is a great mindset to have as the 21-year-old moves into preparation for her new project. Take a listen to “U Don’t Know” and watch our conversation with Justine here.
