The words shock, anger, and uncertainty shrouded over much of the United States in the wee hours this morning after the following election results came in: Donald Trump is now president of the United States.

Shocking on all sorts of levels, and to think of the long and arduous battle that it took to get here, the news shook a nation to its core and left it divided. Of course, after the exceedingly vocal participation of musicians throughout this campaign, there were plenty reactions from them that spilled onto social media. Trump, who was once a sort of hip-hop darling in the past because of the many times he’s been referenced in raps and made appearances at functions, failed to win over much of these musicians. Just last week, Jay Z hosted a Get Out the Vote concert in the key state of Ohio for Hillary Clinton, enlisting Beyoncé, Chance the Rapper, and a slew of other big stars as performers. Chance the Rapper later followed suit with own free show and led thousands of residents through Chicago to vote early. Madonna even held a surprise show in New York City earlier this week. A bulk of these initiatives were steered to support Hillary Clinton.

Now, after the outcome of Tuesday, here are their thoughts on the future of this country.
