Either Lil Yachty hasn’t learned his lesson yet, or he doesn’t care to and is remaining headstrong in his opinions.

Earlier this year, the young rapper caught flack after he admitted to Billboard that he “couldn’t name five songs” from East and West Coast hip-hop legends, the Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac.

His defense? “Why should I do it how everybody says it’s supposed to be done?”

Fellow lyricist Anderson .Paak came forward and did his best to school the youngin’, but it seemingly fell on deaf ears, and that’s all the more clear now that Yachty has been questioned yet again about B.I.G.

While being interviewed for Pitchfork’s “Over/Under” video series, the rapper and his producer The Good Perry were asked to rate, among other things, Tom Hanks, 50 Shades of Grey and, ultimately, the Notorious B.I.G.

Yachty’s immediate answer? “Overrated.”

Even after The Good Perry tries to soften the blow—”I don’t know, I’ve heard like, his stuff in movies. I grew up very sheltered… I can’t say the same for him”—Yachty repeats, “Overrated.”

Yachty’s original defense after .Paak tried to knock some sense into him was, “Where in the handbook of hip hop does it say u must know this list of songs to make music?”

Does Yachty have a point or should he learn his history?
