Ice Cube is bringing his signature Cube Vision to Disney’s front door.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cube is set to take on a leading role in the upcoming Disney adaptation of Charles Dickens’ famous Victorian tale “Oliver Twist.”
Disney Studios is teaming with Cube for the contemporary reboot that is being described as a “modern musical.” Thomas Kail, who is the Tony-winning director of “Hamilton,” will also have a hand on the film as director. According to the report, the new film is expected to cross many genres, including hip-hop.
Cube, who will also produce via his Cube Vision production house, will also be writing the treatment alongside Jeff Kwatinetz. In addition, the rapper is attached to play Fagin, who, as the story goes, is a leader of a gang of London pickpockets.
