Update:

Well, there won’t be an album from Lord Quas next year.

Original story posted on October 26:

Commonly referred to as the Beat Konducta, and better known to the masses as Madlib, the acclaimed producer’s animated rapping alter-ego announced on Tuesday (October 25) a new album set for release in 2017, titled, Follow the Smoker, via his Instagram account. The pending project will be his first since 2005’s The Further Adventures of Lord Quas.

Quas’ Instagram post also depicts him sitting between Eric B. & Rakim on a parody cover of their 1988 LP, Follow the Leader. The pair recently announced their own plans for a reunion tour, following a multi-decade split, as reported by Rolling Stone. It’s also possible that each act could appear on the other’s respective treks next year.

Quasimoto made his first public appearance on Peanut Butter Wolf’s debut album, My Vinyl Weighs a Ton, and would later contribute to projects produced by Madlib, such as the widely acclaimed, Madvillainy.
