After Kid Cudi admitted himself into a rehab facility suffering from what was understood to be depression, Drake saw that as an opportunity and used it to his advantage. The OVO captain drew a lot of attention to himself when he threw shots at Cudi on his new track “Two Birds, One Stone,” saying:

“You were the man on the moon / Now you just going through phases / Life of the angry and famous.”

Dennis Cummings, Kid Cudi’s manager, then hopped on Twitter to blast Drake, calling the Toronto rapper “corny” and revealing that he’d asked for a feature from Cudi (but also not giving the timeline for when the ask took place):

Meanwhile, Kanye West, who previously responded angrily to an emotional Twitter rant by his former signee, dedicated “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1” to Cudi at his Saint Pablo Tour stop in LA, telling the audience, “So Cudi, he in rehab right now, but he got a number one song on the radio, and I want you to sing so he can hear it.”
