You’d be hard pressed to find someone who didn’t agree that the award for bona fide legend should go to Snoop Dogg. He’s carved his name in the history books with his musical presence, style, and a very distinct persona. What can’t the D-O-double-G can’t do?

Way back in 2001, with five albums under his belt — including his critically acclaimed debut Doggystyle, Snoop starred in the oft-forgotten horror flick Bones. Telling the tale of Jimmy Bones, a murdered drug dealer whose darkened soul returns to strike terror upon a group of club-owning hopefuls and others who double crossed him, Snoop’s well-dressed killer was not the one to toy with. Obviously tailor made for the emcee, Snoop played the film’s titular character, alongside Pam Grier, Khalil Kain, and Clifton Powell.

Directed by Ernest Dickerson, best known for his 1992 classic, Juice, the film was a bomb, coming in 10th place at the box office, grossing $8,378,853 on a budget of $16 million.

With Halloween just around the corner, it wouldn’t hurt to pop this in (or stream for that matter) and watch Snoop Dogg slay some innocent folks caught in the crossfire for a decades-old wrongdoing. Nonetheless, Bones is a campy horror film that deserves to be enjoyed for the hell of it.
