Surpassing 500,000 plays is a music achievement in itself, but Bryson Tiller sharing Mike Classic’s song “Woosah” on SoundCloud should be an indication of how good Classic is as an artist.

Following a brief hiatus, the Queens native returned to the music scene by dropping his last single “Lowkey (On The Low)”, but his recent single “Woosah” is on pace to be the seasoned recording artist’s most successful release to date.

What was the whole concept behind your song “Woosah”?

“Woosah” is a record for women. I want them to feel good about themselves; take a vacation from the disrespect, name-calling, and negative energy that they may get from the new music that’s out there. People have been really good to me for that one. The message and the vibe seems to be touching people nationwide. At the end of the day, that’s what I do it for. “Woosah” is basically recognition to women, saying to relax, take it easy, and everything is going to be all right. You know, f–ck with a real ni–a. Take a break from all of the bullshit that you go through because you know women go through a lot.

What was it like for you to see the song gain so much traction and see Bryson Tiller’s SoundCloud cosign?

It was phenomenal because you know when you do music and you have your friends listen or hope your followers listen? I’ve never had a record before that hit that kind of scale and numbers. So, people are hitting me up from third-parties saying, ‘Check your SoundCloud everyday; it’s going up! 5,000; 15,000; 20,000.’ Getting hit up from people all over. It was an amazing feeling because, to be honest with you, I didn’t expect that. I’m proud and happy that people listen.

What do you hope people will take away from listening to your music?

The number one thing is that it’s okay to be yourself, it’s okay to be creative, and to experiment. At the end of the day, it’s okay to tell your story, represent your tribulations and what you’ve been through inside and out. I think music sometimes gets taken advantage of and I just want people to know that it’s oay to tell your message. Have fun with it and be true to yourself, because there’s not a lot of true people out there.
