Suge Knight has filed a lawsuit against Dr. Dre and claims the former Death Row producer once hired a hitman to kill him.

The suit comes after a 2014 incident in which Knight was shot multiple times at a pre-VMA party in West Hollywood. Knight, who filed a lawsuit this past summer against Chris Brown, who hosted the party, and owners of the 1Oak nightclub, for failing to employ “adequate security,” believes Dre contracted the man responsible for the shooting. Suge is now suing the beatsmith for money he believes he’s owed.

According to the complaint, Knight claims that he had a lifetime management deal with Dr. Dre that dated back to their business relationship back in the 1990s that entitles him to 30% of the latter’s entertainment earnings in perpetuity. The former Death Row exec believes he is owed $300 million as a result of Dre’s earnings from Beats Music’s sale to Apple. As a result, Knight claims in the lawsuit that Dre ordered the hitman to try to kill him.

Elsewhere in the legal filing, Knight alleges Dre and Universal, distributor of Straight Outta Compton, hired Cle “Bone” Sloan and paid him $300,000 to “handle the Suge Knight problem” in January 2015. Sloan was one of the two men whom Knight hit with his car in the 2015 hit-and-run on the set of the film. Sloan sustained non-life threatening injuries following the attack, while another man, Terry Carter, was killed.

Knight, who was charged with Carter’s murder and is awaiting trial, has pleaded not guilty.

“Universal was at least aware that part of Sloan’s tactics in addressing the Knight dilemma would involve armed assault,” wrote Knight’s attorney Thaddeus L. Culpepper in the countersuit filed this week. “Knight is at an extreme disadvantage in defend[ing] himself or prosecuting his claims herein because portions of the evidence that would help Knight prove his claims are sealed by protective order.”
