Drake wasn’t just bragging on “Pop Style” when he promised to “turn my birthday into a lifestyle.”
In honor of his 30th birthday, the rapper hosted a special edition of OVO Sound Radio last night (October 23) on Beats 1 and announced plans for a new project called More Life that is set for December. Unlike mixtapes and albums that he’s done in the past, Drizzy refers to this project as a “playlist.” Describing the release, he announced, “I’m off mixtapes. I want to do a playlist. I want to give you a collection of songs that become the soundtrack to your life, so this is More Life: the Playlist.” Later on in the episode, Drake played gift giver and premiered a string of new records, including three More Life cuts: “Sneakin” ft. 21 Savage, “Fake Love,” and “Two Birds, One Stone.”
While each of the records dropped to much fanfare, such as the brooding 21 Savage collaboration, it’s the amped-up “Two Birds, One Stone” that stands as the clear standout.
Over the frenetic production, Drizzy comes out swinging at a couple unnamed (yet obvious) rivals. Among the targets include Kid Cudi, who recently name-checked the “Pop Style” rapper in his September-dated Twitter PSA about the music industry. In response, Drake takes a not so veiled shot at the former G.O.O.D. Music star, rapping, “You were the man on the moon, now you go through your phases, life of the angry and famous.”

The shot rubbed some fans the wrong way considering that it arrives after Cudder recently checked into rehab for depression and “suicidal urges.”
Meanwhile, there is another line in the song that has many pinning it on Pusha T, whom Drake has received a fair share of shots from in the past. In specific line, Drizzy calls out those who rely so heavily on “drug dealing stories” as a crutch. “But really it’s you with all the drug dealer stories that’s gotta stop though / You made a couple chops and now you think you Chapo / If you ask me though you ain’t lining in the trunk with kilo’s / You bagging weed with all your niggas watching Pacino like “This is what we need to be on” / But never went live, you middle man in this shit, you were never those guys / I can tell cause I look most of you in the eyes and you be trying to tell that story for the rest of your lives / Can’t show us where the cash is, me, I don’t judge, I just go off the math is, numbers inflated.”
Although Pusha T and Johnson & Johnson-sponsored content seems to be an obvious target here, another possible focus could be Rick Ross, who, like Push, is no stranger to in-rhyme snow-shoveling. Besides sending a veiled shot on last year’s “Color Money,” Rozay issued a warning to the OVO star this past August on N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN’s Drink Champs podcast after being asked about his stance in the rapper’s feud with Meek Mill. “If it’s gotta go there, Renzel gonna jump off the porch on your ass,” he said in regards if things get too hot. “That’s just the way I’ve always been and I’m gonna die that way… you just gotta know what you doing for [your] dogs, for [your] family, that’s what it is.”
And to think, Drizzy named this new song after the age-old idiom, “kill two birds with one stone.” Overall, the OVO captain appears to have reiterated his pre-summer ’16 goal: looking for revenge.
So the question now is, should we expect the aforementioned names to soon rain on Drake’s parade? With so much to expect between now and the December release of More Life, stay tuned.
