Everyone knows that Frank Ocean hates deadlines.

His latest records, Endless and Blonde, are ineligible for next year’s Grammy Awards ceremony after representatives for the elusive singer failed to submit them for consideration by the September 30 deadline, a source with the academy told Billboard. It’s currently unclear whether the missed deadline was intentional or an apparent oversight.

Following his infamous four-year hiatus that included heartbreaking release dates passing by without new music, Ocean released the first of two surprise records on August 19, his visual album Endless. The following day, he released his sophomore LP, Blonde. Both dropped approximately two weeks before the Recording Academy’s cut off date.

Blonde debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top 200 albums chart, selling 276,000 units in its first week — the third highest of 2016. The record was also illegally downloaded more than 750,000 times. It was considered to be a top contender for Album of the Year.**

His major label debut, 2012’s channel ORANGE, received five Grammy nominations in 2013 including Album of the Year, Best New Artist, and Record of the Year for “Thinkin Bout You.” He took home two honors: Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for his feature on Jay Z and Kanye West’s “No Church in the Wild.”

Reps for Ocean and the Grammys did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
